From the Himalayas to the Mariana Trench, plastic waste has been found everywhere. A new fungus that can “eat” plastic waste has been discovered by Samantha Jenkins, an engineer at Biohm, a London-based biomanufacturing firm, BBC reported. Jenkins found the fungus had eaten its way through the plastic supposed to seal it in, breaking it down and absorbing it like any other food. Biohm is now working to make it a more efficient plastic eater.
