These days, we have more and more opportunities to travel abroad, so being able to speak the local language or an international language like English means that we can communicate with local people and have a good time. That's the main reason why it's important to speak a foreign language.

The most important reason, I guess, is that they don't use the language a lot. I have a friend who studied in Japan and spoke Japanese fluently, but now he seems to have lost the skill, at least the oral language, because he's never used it since he returned China 5 years ago.

If I’ve got the opportunity, I would like to learn Latin, because 1 found many Latin words in the English language, and I want to find out how the two languages are related. Another language l'd like to pick up is French, as I've always dreamed of visiting Paris.

 I found English extremely useful. When my family travelled in Australia, I was the one who did all the communications with local people, businesses and authorities, simply because I am the best English speaker. I spoke English even when I was in South Korea. I don't understand Korean, but I could check into the hotel by speaking English to the staff at the front desk.
