When is Qingming Festival?
Early April
It falls on April 5 this year.
What activities do people do during this festival?
1) one of China’s 24 solar terms 中国24节气之一
the right time for spring cultivation and sowing 春天耕种和播种的关键时刻
the temperature begins to rise 气温回升
rainfall increases 降雨量增加
(回老家过清明啦，看这满山缭绕的雾气，真•山色空蒙雨亦奇)
2) an occasion for Chinese people to honor their lost family members
=pay respect to ancestors/the decreased 祭奠/纪念已故亲人/祖先
visit tombs of our ancestors 扫墓
= tidy up ancestors’ gravesites 扫墓
go to the cemeteries with offerings 带着祭品前往墓地
offer sacrifices (food, drinks, flowers) 供奉祭品
clean up/remove weeds 除草
add fresh oil 培添新土
burn incense and joss paper 烧香和纸钱
pray for family prosperity 祈求家族兴盛发展

3) spring outing 春游，踏青
